What cookies do

Cookies are small records that a website can ask a browser to retain and return with later requests. They can support essential functions, remember preferences or enable measurement and advertising. Purpose, duration and access vary; the word “cookie” alone does not tell you whether a technology is necessary.

LocalStorage and sessionStorage are different browser storage mechanisms. They can hold data accessible to page scripts but are not automatically sent with every request in the way applicable cookies are.

What these pages use

The supplied HTML, CSS and JavaScript do not include analytics cookies, advertising cookies, tracking pixels or a persistent local preference store. The mobile navigation state and reveal animations exist only in the current page session. There are no externally embedded videos, social widgets or remote font requests in the page code.

The contact note remains in the current browser page while you work. The tool does not deliberately save it for a later visit. Browser restoration and autofill may retain information independently, depending on your settings.

Clipboard, downloads and caching

Choosing “Copy note” writes text to your device clipboard if permitted. Choosing “Download .txt” creates a file through the browser’s download system. Neither action is a cookie. Clearing cookies does not necessarily remove copied text or downloaded files.

Your browser may cache images, stylesheets, scripts and pages to improve loading. Caching is distinct from tracking and is controlled partly by browser behaviour and server response headers.

Hosting and separately supplied controls

A hosting, security or consent service may add its own functionality outside the static page code. If a separate consent interface is displayed, use it to review the purposes and choices it actually provides. This page does not claim that a particular external service, cookie name or retention period is in use.

Optional technologies should not be activated without any consent required by applicable law. A consent choice is not, by itself, evidence that an optional analytics or advertising service is installed.

Manage your browser data

Browser settings usually let you inspect site data, block certain cookies and remove existing records. Blocking necessary storage can affect websites that depend on it. Clearing device data may also remove choices managed by a separately supplied consent service, causing it to ask again.

For guidance, consult the help documentation for your browser, such as Firefox site-data controls or Chrome cookie controls. External support pages have their own privacy practices.

Questions about storage

Contact [email protected] if you need clarification. If reporting an unexpected cookie, provide its name and the page where it appeared, but do not send its value if it may contain an identifier or security token.

Read the privacy notice for information about email correspondence and the local planning note tool.
